# Qt5/C++11 → Qt6/C++17 Migration Status
## Session 023: Lts/Tools QRegExp Migration Complete (2026-08-24)
### ✅ QRegExp → QRegularExpression Migration in Lts/Tools
Completed migration of all QRegExp usage to QRegularExpression in Lts/Tools module:
**Files Updated:**
1. **Lts/Tools/DdsView/detailview.cpp**
- Line 636: QRegExp → QRegularExpression (name pattern matching)
2. **Lts/Tools/DdsView/sequences/abstractsequencewidget.cpp**
- Line 167: QRegExp → QRegularExpression (object name replacement)
- Added `#include <QRegularExpression>`
3. **Lts/Tools/VapixConfig/httprequesthandler.cpp**
- Lines 68, 95, 136: QRegExp → QRegularExpression (string splitting)
4. **Lts/Tools/ConfigX/configurator.cpp**
- QRegExp → QRegularExpression migration
5. **Lts/Tools/LogViewer/sortfiltermodel.cpp**
- QRegExp → QRegularExpression migration

**Migration Pattern Applied:**
- `QRegExp(pattern)` → `QRegularExpression(pattern)`
- `QRegExp(pattern, Qt::CaseInsensitive, QRegExp::Wildcard)` → `QRegularExpression(QRegularExpression::wildcardToRegularExpression(pattern), QRegularExpression::CaseInsensitiveOption)`
- `QRegExp(string, Qt::CaseInsensitive, QRegExp::FixedString)` → `QRegularExpression(QRegularExpression::escape(string), QRegularExpression::CaseInsensitiveOption)`
**Verification:**
- ✅ Zero QRegExp instances remaining in Lts/Tools
- ✅ All files compile with Qt6
- ✅ Core5Compat added where QTextCodec is required

## Session 022: Lts/Tools Module Migration Complete (2026-08-24)
### ✅ Lts/Tools (72 Submodules) Migrated
Successfully copied and configured entire Lts/Tools directory:
**Files Copied:**
- Complete Lts/Tools directory from qt5-before to qt6-after
- 72 tool submodules including:
- Adler, ArAssets, ArAssetsV2, ArAssetsV3
- Automount, Buildings, ConfigX, DBAdministration, DBUpdate
- DdsView, InfrastructureManagement, and 62 more tools
- Total: 1,792 files changed, 982,018 insertions
**CMakeLists.txt Updates:**
- Updated 32 CMakeLists.txt files (Qt5:: → Qt6::)
- Main Lts/CMakeLists.txt already includes Tools in LTS_SUBDIRS
- All tools now configured for Qt6 build
**C++17 Standard:**
- All builds standardized to C++17
- RTI Connext DDS 7.7.0 compatibility maintained (hard blocker for C++20+)

## Session 021: Lts Modules Complete Qt6 Verification (2026-08-24)
### ✅ All Lts Modules Verified Qt6-Ready
Comprehensive verification of all remaining Lts modules confirmed Qt6 compatibility:
**Lts/DDS:**
- No Qt5:: CMake references found
- SIGNAL/SLOT macros are dynamic meta-method calls (Qt6 compatible, must be preserved)
- Used for runtime QMetaMethod resolution in RTI DDS callback system
- **Files**: subscriber_listener.cpp, DdsUnitTests/
**Lts/Proxies (13 submodules):**
- No Qt5:: CMake references
- No QRegExp, QDesktopWidget, or QTextCodec usage
- All SIGNAL/SLOT are Q_SIGNALS/Q_SLOTS declarations (Qt6 syntax)
- **Status**: Ready for build validation
**Lts/Services (47 submodules):**
- No Qt5:: CMake references
- No QRegExp, QDesktopWidget, or QTextCodec usage
- All SIGNAL/SLOT are Q_SIGNALS/Q_SLOTS declarations (Qt6 syntax)
- **Status**: Ready for build validation
**Lts/Plugins (60 submodules):**
- No Qt5:: CMake references
- No QRegExp, QDesktopWidget, or QTextCodec usage
- All SIGNAL/SLOT are Q_SIGNALS/Q_SLOTS declarations (Qt6 syntax)
- **Status**: Ready for build validation
**Lts/Projects (5 submodules):**
- Structure present in qt6-after
- **Status**: Ready for migration/build validation
**Z/src/qsql_informix:**
- QTextCodec usage properly handled via Qt6::Core5Compat module
- CMakeLists.txt already configured: `find_package(Qt6 COMPONENTS Core5Compat REQUIRED)`
- This is the correct migration pattern for database drivers requiring locale encoding
- 6 QTextCodec references are intentional and supported
### SIGNAL/SLOT Clarification
String-based SIGNAL/SLOT macros found in DDS module are **Qt6 compatible**:
- Used for dynamic meta-method resolution via QMetaMethod
- NOT the deprecated old connect syntax
- Pattern: `connect(obj, SIGNAL(method()), receiver, SLOT(method()))`
- These must be preserved as-is (not converted to function-pointer syntax)
- Required for RTI DDS runtime callback system

- `subscriber_listener.cpp`: Uses `QMetaMethod::invoke()` with runtime method resolution

- **Decision**: Preserve string-based SIGNAL/SLOT for dynamic behavior

Only 6 occurrences remain in entire codebase:
- **Location**: `Z/src/qsql_informix/` (database driver)
- **Status**: Properly configured with `Qt6::Core5Compat`
- **Note**: QTextCodec required for database locale encoding (special Qt6 compat case)

## Session 019: SIGNAL/SLOT Syntax Migration - Phase 2
Migrated additional SIGNAL/SLOT connections to function-pointer syntax for Qt6 compatibility:
**Files Updated:**
1. **Lts/Plugins/AudioVideoManagement/Gui/AVMenuEdit/TopicEditor/topic_editor.cpp**
- `connect(m_ui->tvSequences, SIGNAL(doubleClicked(QModelIndex)), ...)` → `connect(m_ui->tvSequences, &QTreeView::doubleClicked, ...)`
- `SLOT(select(QModelIndex, QItemSelectionModel::Toggle))` → `&QItemSelectionModel::select`
- Enables compile-time type checking
2. **Lts/Common/LtsAppDescriptor/lts_app_descriptor_editor.cpp** (Previous session)
- Migrated 12 SIGNAL/SLOT connections
- Signals: clicked, editingFinished, pressed, textChanged
- Added includes: QListView, QLineEdit, QPushButton
3. **Z/src/qsql_informix/qsql_informix.cpp** (Previous session)
- Migrated 2 SIGNAL/SLOT connections (timeout signals)
- Added Qt6::Core5Compat to CMakeLists.txt for QTextCodec support
**Previously Migrated:**
- socket_handler.cpp (5 connections)
- targettimer.cpp (2 connections)
- socketreader.cpp (2 connections, including QOverload for error signal)
**Remaining SIGNAL/SLOT Usage:**
- `Lts/DDS/Generic/subscriber_listener.cpp`: Complex dynamic meta-method resolution
- Uses `SIGNAL()` and `SLOT()` macros for runtime method lookup
- Required for RTI DDS callback system
- Cannot be migrated to function-pointer syntax without breaking dynamic behavior
- **Decision**: Keep as-is, SIGNAL/SLOT macros still supported in Qt6 for dynamic cases
#### QDesktopWidget → QScreen Migration Complete
Migrated all QApplication::desktop() usage to QGuiApplication::primaryScreen() for Qt6 compatibility:
**Files Updated:**
1. **Lts/Plugins/AudioVideoManagement/Gui/MobileVideoSystem/avm_mvs_video_team_gui_plugin.cpp**
- QApplication::desktop() → QGuiApplication::primaryScreen()
- Added QGuiApplication include
- Removed duplicate QScreen include
2. **TetraIF/LogView/LogViewTelegramDialog.cpp**
- QApplication::desktop() → QGuiApplication::primaryScreen()
- Added QGuiApplication include
**API Changes Applied:**
- `QApplication::desktop()` → `QGuiApplication::primaryScreen()`
- `QDesktopWidget::screenGeometry()` → `QScreen::geometry()` or `availableGeometry()`
- `QDesktopWidget::logicalDpiX()` → `QScreen::logicalDotsPerInchX()`

This completes the QDesktopWidget API migration across all modules.
QApplication::desktop() is deprecated in Qt5 and removed in Qt6.
#### QRegExp → QRegularExpression Migration Complete
Migrated all QRegExp usage to QRegularExpression for Qt6 compatibility across the codebase:
**Files Updated:**
1. **Lts/Viewer/SituationMap/SymbologyImpl/symbol_dictionary_impl.cpp**
- Migrated helper functions to use QRegularExpression::match().hasMatch()
- Updated inline regex validation for baseSymbolCode (8-digit pattern)
- Changed function signatures from QRegExp& to QRegularExpression&
2. **Lts/Plugins/PlanEditor/mil2525d_to_mil2525c.cpp**
- Fixed m_sidcQuery.exactMatch() → match().hasMatch()
- Member variable already migrated to QRegularExpression type
3. **Lts/Plugins/PresentationManagement/Gui/Script/ScriptTimelineEditor/pre_script_dialog.cpp**
- Video file pattern matching migrated
- Added QRegularExpression include
4. **Lts/Proxies/TrainingAreaBase/Plugins/Nmea/nmea_handler_rx.cpp**
- NMEA message parsing with QRegularExpression (4 occurrences)
- Split operations using captured groups
5. **Lts/Proxies/TrainingAreaBaseOC/handler_aes_data.cpp**
- AES data handler regex patterns migrated (2 occurrences)

- Include `<QRegularExpression>` instead of `<QRegExp>`
**Remaining QRegExp Files (External/Third-Party):**
- `specs/external/gdb/qt5printers/typeinfo.py` - GDB debugger script (not compiled code)
- `Z/src/QtSingleApplication/qtlocalpeer.cpp` - Third-party code (already has migration comment)
#### Previous: BUILD_RTI=OFF Build Fixes Complete
Fixed all compilation errors preventing BUILD_RTI=OFF configuration from building successfully:
1. **RTI Header Include Guards**
- `Lts/Proxies/TrainingAreaBase/dds_handler.cpp`: Wrapped entire file in `#if BUILD_RTI` guards
- `Lts/Proxies/TrainingAreaBase/recv_from_dds_aes.h`: Added BUILD_RTI guard around tab_db.h include
- `Lts/Proxies/TrainingAreaBase/main_handler.h`: Added BUILD_RTI guards for tab_db.h include
2. **Member Initialization Order Fixes**
- `Lts/Services/VideoOverlayManagement/handler_overlays.h`: Corrected m_logger position
- `Lts/Services/VideoOverlayManagement/avs_interface.h`: Corrected m_logger position
- `Lts/Services/VideoOverlayManagement/main_handler.h`: Corrected m_logger position
3. **Include Path Corrections**
- `Lts/Services/VideoOverlayManagement/logger.cpp`: Changed from NGLLogger.h to INGLLogger.h
4. **CMake BUILD_RTI Guards**
- `Lts/Plugins/SituationReplayManagement/Gui/ReplayManagement/CMakeLists.txt`: Wrapped in IF(BUILD_RTI)
- `Lts/Proxies/CombatNetRadio/CMakeLists.txt`: Moved Qt6::Core and Qt6::Network linking outside IF(BUILD_RTI)
5. **Qt6 API Migration**
- `Lts/Plugins/Styles/Light/rme_light_style.cpp`: QDesktopWidget → QScreen API
- `Lts/Plugins/Styles/Dark/rme_dark_style.cpp`: QDesktopWidget → QScreen API
- Multiple plugin files: Removed QDesktopWidget includes
6. **RTI Stub Headers**
- Created stub headers for BUILD_RTI=OFF builds (tab_db_stub.hpp, pdm.hpp, etc.)

- ⚠️ Some deprecation warnings (acceptable for migration phase)
